Ingredients
Scale
- 1 loaf of Italian bread or French baguette
- 1 cup of cooked spaghetti (about 8 ounces)
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1/2 cup of marinara sauce
- 1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Slice the loaf of Italian bread or French baguette in half lengthwise. For individual bowls, cut into smaller sections (4-6 inches long).
- Hollow out the insides of the bread halves, leaving about a 1-inch border around the edges. Be careful not to cut through the bottom.
- Place the hollowed-out bread on a baking sheet, cut side up.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- If desired, add red pepper flakes and stir for another 30 seconds.
- Add the cooked spaghetti, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Toss to coat and warm through for 2-3 minutes.
- Pour in the marinara sauce and mix well. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes, adding water or more sauce if needed.
- Remove from heat and stir in the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese until evenly distributed.
- Spoon the spaghetti mixture into the hollowed-out bread bowls, filling generously.
- Sprinkle any leftover cheese on top for an extra cheesy crust.
- Place the filled bread bowls back on the baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, until the bread is crispy and the cheese is bubbly.
- Let the bread bowls cool for a few minutes before handling.
- Garnish with fresh basil leaves and drizzle with olive oil or sprinkle with additional Parmesan if desired.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- For added protein, mix in cooked meatballs, grilled chicken, or sautéed vegetables.
- For a vegetarian option, consider adding sautéed mushrooms, bell peppers, or spinach.
- Experiment with different cheeses like cheddar or provolone for a unique twist.
- Store-bought garlic bread can be used for a quicker option; just hollow it out and fill.
