Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound of flank steak
- 8 ounces of rotini pasta
- 1/4 cup of honey
- 1/4 cup of soy sauce
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 1 teaspoon of ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- 1 cup of broccoli florets
- 1/2 cup of sliced bell peppers (any color)
- 1/4 cup of chopped green onions (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- In a medium-sized bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, olive oil, black pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes (if using). Whisk until well blended.
- Place flank steak in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish, pour marinade over it, ensuring it is well coated. Seal or cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes (2-4 hours recommended, overnight for best results).
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add rotini pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente (about 8-10 minutes). Stir occasionally.
- About 2 minutes before pasta is done, add broccoli florets and sliced bell peppers to the pot. Drain and set aside (do not rinse).
- Remove steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 15 minutes.
- Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add marinated steak and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare (internal temperature should be 130°F).
- Remove steak from the pan and let it rest for 5 minutes.
- Slice the steak against the grain into thin strips and set aside.
- In the same skillet, pour in the remaining marinade and bring to a simmer over medium heat, scraping up browned bits from the pan. Simmer for 3-5 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Add drained rotini, broccoli, and bell peppers back into the skillet with the sauce. Toss until well coated.
- Gently fold in sliced steak and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to heat through.
- Transfer the honey garlic steak rotini to a serving bowl or plates. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add more red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce.
- Feel free to substitute the vegetables with your favorites or what you have on hand.
