Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried parsley)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Juice of 1 lemon
Instructions
- In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the olive oil, minced garlic, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, salt, black pepper, Italian seasoning, and lemon juice.
- Whisk the ingredients together until they are well blended. The mixture should be smooth and creamy, with the Parmesan cheese evenly distributed throughout.
- Taste the marinade and adjust the seasoning if necessary. If you prefer a stronger garlic flavor, feel free to add an extra clove or two of minced garlic.
- Place the chicken breasts in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish.
- Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring that each piece is thoroughly coated.
- Seal the bag or cover the dish with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. For best results, marinate the chicken for 2 to 4 hours, allowing the flavors to penetrate the meat.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 375°F to 400°F). If you’re using a charcoal grill, make sure the coals are evenly distributed and have turned white before cooking.
- While the grill is heating up, remove the chicken from the marinade and let any excess marinade drip off. Discard the leftover marinade to avoid contamination.
- Once the grill is hot, lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking. You can use a paper towel dipped in oil and tongs to wipe the grates.
- Place the chicken breasts on the grill, making sure to leave some space between each piece for even cooking.
- Grill the chicken for about 6-7 minutes on one side without moving it. This will help create those beautiful grill marks and ensure a nice sear.
- After 6-7 minutes, flip the chicken breasts over using tongs. Grill for an additional 6-7 minutes on the other side. The chicken is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C) and the juices run clear.
- If you want to add a little extra flavor, you can sprinkle some additional Parmesan cheese on top of the chicken during the last minute of grilling. Close the grill lid to help it melt.
- Once the chicken is cooked through, remove it from the grill and place it on a cutting board. Let it rest for about 5 minutes. This resting period allows the juices to redistribute throughout the chicken, making it more tender and juicy.
- After resting, slice the chicken breasts into strips or serve them whole. You can garnish with additional chopped parsley and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese for a beautiful presentation.
- Serve the Garlic Parmesan Grilled Chicken with your favorite sides. It pairs wonderfully with grilled vegetables, a fresh garden salad, or creamy mashed potatoes.
- For a complete meal, consider serving it with a side of garlic bread and a glass of white wine. The flavors of the chicken will complement the wine beautifully.
- If you have any leftovers, allow the chicken to cool completely before storing it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will keep well for up to 3 days.
- To reheat, simply place the chicken in a microwave-safe dish and heat it in the microwave for 1-2 minutes, or until warmed through. Alternatively, you can reheat it in a skillet over medium heat for a few minutes on each side.
- Make sure to use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the chicken. This ensures that it is cooked through without being dry.
- If you prefer a smokier flavor, consider adding wood chips to your grill. Soak the chips in water for about 30 minutes, then place them directly on the coals or in a smoker box.
- Experiment with different herbs and spices in the marinade. Fresh basil, oregano, or even a pinch of red pepper flakes can add a unique twist.
