Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (preferably 80/20 for flavor)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 small corn or flour tortillas
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
- 1/2 cup sour cream (optional)
- Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet. Use a wooden spoon or spatula to break it up into smaller pieces. Cook the beef for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it’s browned and cooked through.
- Once the beef is cooked, drain any excess fat from the skillet.
- Return the skillet to the heat and add the BBQ sauce, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir everything together until the beef is well coated with the sauce. Let it simmer for about 3-5 minutes.
- While the beef mixture is simmering, prepare the tortillas. If using corn tortillas, warm them in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 30 seconds on each side, or wrap them in a damp paper towel and microwave for about 20-30 seconds.
- If using flour tortillas, warm them in the same way, being careful not to overheat them.
- Once the beef mixture is ready and the tortillas are warmed, assemble the tacos by placing a tortilla on a plate.
- Spoon a generous amount of the BBQ beef mixture onto the center of the tortilla.
- Top the beef with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and shredded cheese.
- If desired, add a dollop of sour cream on top of the cheese.
- Sprinkle some chopped cilantro on top for a fresh touch.
- Once all the tacos are assembled, serve them immediately while they’re warm.
- Serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side for dipping, as well as some lime wedges for a zesty kick.
- Have some napkins handy, as these tacos can get a little messy.
Notes
- If you want to add some heat, consider mixing in some diced jalapeños or a splash of hot sauce into the beef mixture.
- For a healthier option, you can substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef.
