Ingredients
- Firm, Sweet-Tart Apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala)
- All-Purpose Flour
- Granulated Sugar
- Ground Cinnamon
- A Pinch of Salt
- Cooking Spray or Light Oil (Avocado oil spray or light olive oil)
Instructions
- Wash your apples thoroughly. Peeling is optional, but recommended for a tender interior.
- Core your apples using an apple corer or by cutting around the core.
- Slice the apples into 1/4 to 1/2-inch thick slices, then cut those slices into fry-like sticks.
- Transfer the apple sticks to a medium-sized bowl.
- In a separate small bowl, combine granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Whisk until well combined. If using flour, add it to this mixture and whisk until no lumps remain.
- Sprinkle the dry coating mixture over the apple sticks in the bowl and gently toss until evenly coated.
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3-5 minutes.
- Lightly spray the bottom of your preheated air fryer basket with cooking spray.
- Arrange the coated apple fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Lightly spray the tops with cooking oil.
- Air fry for 8-15 minutes, shaking the basket or flipping the fries halfway through cooking.
- Carefully remove the crispy apple fries from the air fryer and serve warm.
