  • Author: Lana
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 24 churro bites 1x

Description

Enjoy these crispy and soft homemade churro bites, coated in sweet cinnamon-sugar and served with warm Nutella for dipping. Perfect for satisfying your sweet cravings!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1 cup Nutella (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally.
  2. Once boiling, remove from heat and add 1 cup of all-purpose flour. Stir vigorously with a wooden spoon until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan (about 1-2 minutes).
  3. Let the dough cool for about 5 minutes to avoid cooking the eggs.
  4. Add 2 large eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  5. In a large pot or deep fryer, pour enough vegetable oil to fill it about 2-3 inches deep. Heat the oil to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Prepare a plate lined with paper towels to drain the churro bites after frying.
  7. In a shallow bowl, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon for coating.
  8. Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip (or a zip-top bag with the corner snipped off).
  9. Pipe small bite-sized pieces of dough (about 1 inch long) into the hot oil, frying in batches if necessary. Fry for about 2-3 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
  10. Remove churro bites with a slotted spoon and place them on the paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  11. While warm, roll the churro bites in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated.
  12. Transfer the coated churro bites to a serving platter.
  13. Heat 1 cup of Nutella in the microwave for about 15-20 seconds to make it easier for dipping, then stir until smooth.
  14. Serve the warm churro bites alongside the bowl of Nutella for dipping.

Notes

  • Ensure the oil is at the right temperature for optimal frying; too hot can burn the churros, while too cool can make them greasy.
  • You can adjust the amount of cinnamon in the sugar coating to your taste.
