Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 to 1.5 cups chocolate chips
- Caramel sauce
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat together 1 cup of softened unsalted butter, 3/4 cup of granulated sugar, and 3/4 cup of brown sugar until creamy and light in color.
- Beat in 2 large eggs, one at a time, making sure each is fully incorporated. Then mix in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Stir in 1 to 1.5 cups of chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
- If you’re making homemade caramel, prepare it now. Once it's ready, allow it to cool slightly so it thickens but remains pourable.
- For each cookie, scoop a tablespoon of cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet. Make a small indentation in the center and drizzle a teaspoon of caramel sauce in each one. Top with another scoop of dough to cover the caramel and gently press down to flatten slightly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers will look slightly underbaked.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Keywords: For thicker cookies, consider chilling the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. Be generous with the caramel but ensure it’s not overflowing to prevent it from leaking out during baking.
