  • Author: yumrow
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Description

Indulge in the rich flavors of Beef Prosciutto and Gruyère Puff Pastry Stacks, featuring flaky pastry, savory beef, and creamy cheese. Perfect for impressing guests or elevating your weeknight dinner!

Ingredients

  • Puff Pastry
  • Thinly sliced beef steak (such as sirloin or tenderloin)
  • High-quality beef prosciutto or bresaola
  • Gruyère cheese
  • Fresh thyme or rosemary
  • Dijon mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thickness. Cut it into squares or rectangles, depending on your preferred stack size.
  3. Place the pastry pieces on a lined baking sheet. Prick them with a fork to prevent them from puffing too much. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until they are golden and crispy. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
  4. In a skillet over medium-high heat, add a drizzle of olive oil. Season your beef slices with salt and pepper, then sear them for about 2-3 minutes on each side until browned but not fully cooked through. Remove from heat and set aside.
  5. On a piece of puff pastry, spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard, place a slice of beef, followed by a slice of beef prosciutto and a generous helping of Gruyère cheese. Top with another piece of puff pastry. Repeat the process until all ingredients are used, finishing with a puff pastry layer on top.
  6. Return the assembled stacks to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the pastry is beautifully golden.
  7. Once out of the oven, sprinkle fresh herbs over the top for added flavor and aesthetic. Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
