Asian Glazed Salmon: A Delicious Recipe for a Healthy Dinner

  • Author: yumrow
  • Total Time: 42 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

This Asian Glazed Salmon features tender fillets marinated in a sweet and savory blend of soy sauce, honey, and ginger, then grilled or baked to perfection. Garnished with sesame seeds and green onions, it’s a flavorful and elegant dish that pairs beautifully with rice and sautéed vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Whisk until the honey is fully dissolved and the ingredients are blended.
  2. Set aside about 1/4 cup of the marinade in a separate bowl for glazing the salmon later. Use the remaining marinade to marinate the salmon fillets.
  3. Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish or resealable plastic bag and pour the marinade over them, ensuring each fillet is well-coated. Cover or seal and let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, preferably up to 2 hours.
  4. In a small saucepan, pour the reserved marinade and bring it to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  5. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Slowly whisk the cornstarch mixture into the simmering marinade. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until thickened to your desired consistency. Remove from heat and set aside.
  6. Preheat your grill or oven to 400°F (200°C). If grilling, oil the grates; if baking, line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. After marinating, let the salmon sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes.
  8. For grilling, place the salmon fillets skin-side down on the grill, brush with glaze, and cook for 6-8 minutes. For baking, place the fillets on the prepared baking sheet, brush with glaze, and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until cooked through and flaky.
  9. Once cooked, let the salmon rest for a couple of minutes to allow juices to redistribute.
  10. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving.
  11. Serve the Asian glazed salmon with steamed jasmine rice or quinoa and sautéed vegetables like bok choy, snap peas, or broccoli. Drizzle with extra glaze if desired.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, consider adding a pinch of red pepper flakes to the marinade.
  • This dish pairs well with a light salad or pickled vegetables for added freshness.
